Facebook New Features For iOS

Facebook released a new feature today for its iOS Messenger app that allows users to receive booked flight information updates.

The instant messaging service's first 'airline bot' enables KLM Royal Dutch Airlines customers who have booked tickets through the airlines' website to have all their flight information delivered to a dedicated thread within the app.

The bot is designed to supply customers with their itinerary, boarding pass, and check-in confirmation, as well as notify of any flight delays. An option to speak to a human KLM staff member is also included.

According to the report, Facebook was likely giving third-party developers access to the chat SDK in an effort to make Messenger more like its Asian counterparts, such as WeChat and Line, whose users can contact dedicated accounts to buy movie tickets and pay bills.

In December 2015, Uber announced integration with Messenger via a new Transportation feature, which lets customers book taxis and receive live progress updates from within a chat thread.

Facebook Messenger is free on the App Store for iPhone.

Apple acknowledges iOS 9 crashing bugs when tapping links, fix coming ‘soon’ with a software update

We have heard from a lot of readers that are affected by iOS 9 crashes or app hangs when tapping links, spanning multiple iOS versions (not just 9.3) and devices. In a statement, Apple has now confirmed that they are working on a fix for the problem, coming in a software update (presumably iOS 9.3.1).

Apple Says -"We are aware of this issue, and we will release a fix in a software update soon.”

A temporary workaround is still unknown, although community investigations have revealed why the bug has arisen. It is based on what apps the user has installed and how those apps handle universal links.

Previously, we pinpointed Bookings.com as a cause of the bug, although noting it affects other apps as well. On Twitter, it was found that their website association file, used by the system for the universal links feature introduced with iOS 9, was many megabytes, grossly oversized. This would essentially overload the daemon that had to parse these files, causing the crashing. The Booking.com app has since corrected its payload file to be a far more reasonable 4 kilobytes. Users of Booking.com should delete and reinstall the app, to refresh the system caches for the URL association file.

Netflix admits to throttling video quality on AT&T and Verizon ‘to protect consumers’

The popular video service said […] that for more than five years it has limited its video speeds to most wireless carriers across the globe, including AT&T and Verizon, to “protect consumers from exceeding mobile data caps,” which may discourage future viewing. Watching two hours of HD video on Netflix would consume up to 6 gigabytes of data, Netflix says. That is an entire month’s allowance under an $80 a month Verizon plan. Netflix said it doesn’t limit its video quality at two carriers: T-Mobile and Sprint, because “historically those two companies have had more consumer-friendly policies.” When customers exceed their data plans on Sprint or T-Mobile, the carriers usually slow their network connections, rather than charge overage fees. Netflix said it is also exploring “new ways to give members more control in choosing video quality.” It is working on a mobile “data saver” to be rolled out in May that would allow consumers to “stream more video under a smaller data plan, or increase their video quality if they have a higher data plan.”

If you’ve ever been disappointed with the quality of Netflix videos when streaming them on AT&T or Verizon, and cursed the network for its poor connectivity, it appears that your wrath should instead have been directed towards Netflix.

The WSJ reports that Netflix has been deliberately throttling video on mobile devices for more than five years, but only admitting it now … This only came to light when T-Mobile said that it offered higher-quality Netflix streams than the two largest carriers, and accused them of throttling video. Both companies denied it, forcing Netflix to come clean.

Netflix said that it was acting to protect customers from excessive bills or loss of service.

AT&T said that it was “outraged” at the practice, while Netflix said that it would be introducing a new feature in May that will allow subscribers to choose their video quality when using mobile data.

On a more positive note, 12.9-inch iPad Pro users now see full-resolution content following an app update that also introduced 3D Touch peek and pop.

Android N leaked Features and Screenshots

#1 Multi Window All android users are waiting for this feature from a long time, now finally wait is over. In the next version of android, Google is adding the feature of multi – window, now multi tasking will be smoothest than ever.
#2 Data Saver The very big problem for most of the android users. Android apps used to eat the data in background, that’s why Google introduced this very useful feature to make all the users happy.
#3 Better And Improved Notifications. Another major feature included in the developer preview of the next version android. The one best thing in the Notification improvement is that now you can directly reply to the messages / mails from the notification bar. Now users can also expand the bundled notifications to individual notification.
#4 Some UI Changes You will still not find any major UI improvement in the next version of android, Android N. Though there are enough minor changes to improve the UI of android N. In the developer preview of android N, the settings of the device was very much changed and there were night mode also, so if you don’t like brighter light UI then you can switch to Dark mode/ Night mode.
#5 Number Blocking Google finally decided to add this great and useful feature in stock android. Now users can block the call and the messages of any specific contact. The list of the blocked numbers will be synced now so even if you change the device you don’t need to add the numbers again.

Still we can’t say if all above features will be available on final release or not. This android N Update is still in Beta Stage, it will be in Stable Version Soon, According to Google Android N Stable Version will be available on 3RD Quarter of this Year 2016, so stay tuned for that update.

Apple iPhone leaks & Rumours part 3

Apple today confirmed that it's going to host a press event on March 21, where - as previously rumored - the company is expected to announce a brand new iPhone. More exactly, on that day, Apple is likely going to unveil a 4-inch iPhone that may be called iPhone SE.

As you probably know, at the moment, the only 4-inch smartphone that Apple is still selling is the iPhone 5s (initially released in September 2013). The iPhone SE would replace the 5s, reportedly bringing features like Apple's A9 processor (the same that's powering the iPhone 6s series), Apple Pay, a 12 MP rear camera, and 16 GB to 64 GB of internal memory. The iPhone SE could cost around $400 - $500, thus being on par from this point of view with the iPhone 5s (prices f or which start at $450). Quite many people seem to be excited about this new 4-inch iPhone. But wait the party is not yet over....

BOOOM.A new generation iPad Air might also be announced during the March 21 event, as the iPad Air 2 (introduced back in October 2014) is getting a bit long in the tooth.

Apple iPhone leaks & Rumours Part 2

Apple could be planning to implement "folded edge side screens" on a future iOS device using a flexible OLED display.

There have been speculations about Apple launching a giant iPhone with 5.8-inch display, likely to be called iPhone Pro. If you too among the ones wondering how the mega smartphone will fit into hands and will it not be too unwieldy for smaller hands to hold such a big smartphone? Worry not.It may sport a screen that wraps around the sides.

iPhone SE Lastest Leaks & Rumors

One concept from 9to5mac, the other from @onleaks and yet another from Curved.de.

The 9to5mac version is essentially an iPhone 5(S) but with soft edges, the Curved.de version is a scaled

down iPhone 6(S) whereas the @onleaks version is something in between these two.

 Which one would you pick?
